The Best Colon Detox Smoothie

We are a generation of busyness. We’re constantly on the go, and even our form of entertainment is handheld (you may be reading this from your phone right now). With that, our bodies send us signals to essentially get us to SLOW DOWN. One very important bodily function affected by our lifestyle is our bowel movement. You know, pooping.

Irregularity and constipation typically occurs when the body is dehydrated, our diet lacks adequate fiber, inactivity (sedentary lifestyle), medications or irritable bowel. When we find ourselves constipated, we quickly reach for over-the-counter remedies (Ex-lax or the hardcore magnesium citrate). However, you can totally produce regular bowel movements by balancing your diet and drinking plenty of water.

The average person consume about 12 grams of fiber a day. Women need around 25 grams of fiber daily. Don’t worry, you won’t have to eat 3 loaves of bread to meet your daily requirement. You can totally get all of your necessary fiber from other foods. I have provided a fiber-rich smoothie recipe that will definitely produce a bulky bowel movement. Also, it contains a probiotic as an added bonus.

1 cup raspberries
¼ cup coconut
½ oats (the more oats the thicker)
2 tablespoons flaxseed meal (you can buy at Sprouts or Wholefoods in bulk)
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 cup kefir (the probiotic)

Blend ingredients in you choice of appliance. Here, I used a NutriBullet for easy cleaning. When loading, make sure your liquid can reach the blades effortlessly. Otherwise, you’ll be at a standstill.

You can add honey or agave if your raspberries are a little tart.

Again, the more oats you add, the thicker you blend. If you’re into smoothing bowls, this is the recipe for you. Contains about 30g fiber and yields about 12 ounces.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Feel free to share this post with friends. Let me know if you tried the recipe…and if it worked! Thanks for reading!
